Ways to Donate to the Cortland – CSA (Chapter Scholarship Account)
The Delta Chi Educational Foundation (DCEF) is a 501C(3) educational non-profit organization. The Foundation strives to offer opportunities for a variety of donor supported programs and activities for our chapters and members (future leaders of tomorrow) like the CSA program. The DCEF is designated a 501C(3) by the IRS and allows for tax-deductible donations to benefit Delta Chi Fraternity. Only through the DCEF can a donor contribute to Delta Chi and receive the tax deductible benefits. The International Headquarters and the Cortland Chapter itself are non-profit 501C(7) organizations and are not considered tax deductible. If an Alumnus, parent, or other donor would like to help the Cortland Chapter and receive the tax benefits, they must go through The Delta Chi Educational Foundation and request the money be earmarked for the Cortland - CSA.
Many employers have philanthropic programs that allow employees to have a more significant impact on their charitable giving. Please check with your company’s Human Resources Department to see if you are eligible for these Matching Gift benefits which can potentially double the size of your donation. The DCEF website lists over 350 known companies with matching gift programs.
There are several ways to make your donation, including cash, credit card, stocks and bonds, real estate and more. Please see your tax advisor and/or the DCEF website for more information. The most common methods of donation are:
- Mail

** IMPORTANT: Be sure to designate the gift to the Cortland CSA or it will be considered a general donation. |
2. Online at www.dcef.com
Single donation only by credit card or electronic check.
3. Call the DCEF office toll free at (866) 214-8114
Make a recurring donation on your credit card
Examples include: Quarterly payments of $125 for a total of $500 or monthly payments of $83.33 for a total of $1000. This can be done for a single year or as an ongoing gift. With the right credit card, this is a great way to earn award points or airline miles.
Stocks and Bonds:
The DCEF can accept stock transactions as a donation. This is probably the best way for a win-win for a donor. If you have held a stock or bond longer than a year, you can donate it and not pay the capital gains tax you would normally pay with the sell. The donor’s broker transfers the stock to the DCEF who will in turn sell the stock. The win-win is that neither party pays the taxes associated with the sell, and both parties get the full value of the stock or bond (cash for the DCEF, and a tax benefit for the donor).
